SKIN REVIVAL TIPS FOR HANGOVERS

SKIN REVIVAL TIPS FOR HANGOVERS

Overdone it on the fizz and cocktails?

You are definitely not alone!

During the festive season, we are all feeling pretty jaded and it often shows in our skin.

I’ve created a few, tried and tested, tips to help clear and brighten your skin so you’re looking your best in time for the New Year.

Keep scrolling for full details…

  1. Prepare
  2. Supplements to ease symptoms
  3. Clean Skin
  4. Soothe an aching body
  5. Brighten & Hydrate

1) Preparation Tips

  1. Take a milk thistle supplement before going out - this is a natural liver cleanser and helps ease that hungover sick feeling and headache.
  2. Drink water before you go out, and during the evening
  3. Put a water and fizzy vitamin c tablet next to your bed, along with another milk thistle and some paracetamol.

ALWAYS take your makeup off the night before

Cleanse your face every night (and make it a double!).

Even if you have had a lot to drink, try to make it part of your routine and do it when you clean your teeth. It takes about 2 minutes.

If you don't manage to take your makeup off then follow detail in tip number 3 (below)

2) Supplements to ease symptoms

Take some supplements to help ease any anxiety (hangxiety) and ease the physical symptoms.

My recommendations are:

  • Ashwaganda
  • Milk Thistle
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin C - ideally the fizzy ones you add to water (for extra hydration)
  • Peppermint Oil (Tisserand or Neals Yard)
  • Water with vitamin c (or multi vitamin)

If you're feeling sick and you can’t face water then try fizzy water, squash or Gaseosa/Casera (if you’re in Spain).

3) Clean Skin

Did you leave your makeup on all night

If you did have a few too many, and went to bed with a full face of make up on, then as soon as you wake up drag yourself to the sink and do a double cleanse.

Use a cleansing oil for your first cleanse (try the NEROLI CLEANSING OIL) and then mix it with a cleansing powder (try the BRIGHTEN & GLOW POWDER) for your second cleanse.

This will give a really good exfoliation, leaving it feeling super soft and most importantly make sure your face is properly clean.

4) Soothe an aching body

Take a quick soothing bath, with face mask, to soothe your mind and body before the day ahead (see mask tips below)

Bath time next 🛀🏻

Magic 9 Balm blog, soothing bath with the balm

Brightening Face Mask - Whilst in the bath apply a layer of the NEROLI CLEANSING OIL onto your face, neck & décolleté then mix the BRIGHTEN & GLOW POWDER with some water, approx 1/2 teaspoon with approx 1 teaspoon of water.

I usually just estimate the measurements and mix it up in my hand and apply over the face & neck and décolleté and leave on for at least 10 minutes.

The steam is great for further activating the moroccan lava clay. If the mask feels dry then pat on some water.

After 10 minutes apply more water and exfoliate off to reveal soft, smooth skin. The Hyaluronic Acid, Oatmeal and vitamin C in the mask help to hydrate, brighten and revive the skin.

SHOWER SOOTHER

Add 5 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil (or another clearing oil) to the shower tray, before you turn on the shower.

Follow the Brightening Face Mask Guide, above, then take a small amount of the Magic 9 Balm and massage onto your shoulders, chest and neck before stepping into the shower.

The warm water will release the scent of the soothing lavender and marjoram and clearing peppermint and eucalyptus.

Stay in the shower for 5 minutes letting the warm water ease aching muscles

5) Hydrate & Glow

After your bath, or shower, splash your face with cold water and then massage in a face oil to brighten and hydrate further (I recommend my Natural Glow Serum or Sandalwood Face Oil - available HERE).

Apply a tiny amount of the Magic 9 Balm onto your temples as the peppermint, marjoram & lavender, in the balm, will help soothe your headache. Apply more balm to your lips and if your cheeks need an extra glow add a tiny amount onto your cheeks as a natural highlighter.

Be kind to yourself. Late nights happen, celebrations are meant to be enjoyed, and your skin is pretty resilient.

There’s no need to do everything on this list — choose one or two of these tips, take it slowly, and let your skin (and nervous system) settle. A little self care goes a long way.

Happy New Year
